Disconnecting the 12 V battery on a Peugeot 2008 Mk2 (P24, 2019–present) is a simple engine-bay job. This guide covers safe disconnection and what the car needs re-taught afterwards.
Where the Battery Is
The 12 V battery sits in the engine bay, under a cover. The petrol (PureTech) and diesel (BlueHDi) 2008 has no high-voltage system — only the all-electric e-2008 does, and that’s a different job.
Disconnecting
- Switch the ignition off, remove the key/fob and wait a minute for the electronics to sleep.
- Disconnect the negative (−) terminal first and tuck the lead aside.
- If removing the battery, disconnect the positive (+) next, then the clamp.
Reconnecting & Re-teaching
- Reconnect positive (+) first, then negative (−) last.
- Reset the clock/date; the i-Cockpit touchscreen reloads on its own.

- If your car has a panoramic sunroof, it may also need re-initialising.
A like-for-like battery doesn’t need coding on the 2008.
