If an automatic (CVT) Dacia Sandero (Mk3 / DJF, 2021–present) has a flat battery or a selector fault, the gear lever can stay locked in P and the car won’t roll. There’s an owner emergency release at the gear lever.
How to Release the Sandero (Mk3 CVT) Selector from Park
- Apply the parking brake or chock the wheels — the car can roll once Park releases.
- Remove the gear-lever cover/surround to expose the release buttons.
- Press button (1) and, at the same time, press button (2).
- With both held, move the gear lever out of P.
- Release the buttons. The car can now be pushed or trailered.
Important
- Secure the car first — once out of P the transmission no longer holds it.
- Have the cause checked afterward; needing the manual release usually points to a flat battery or a selector fault.
- This applies to the CVT automatic only — manual Sanderos don’t have a parking lock to release.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why won’t my automatic Sandero come out of Park?
The parking lock is electric; with no power or a fault it stays engaged. The two-button release at the gear lever frees it so the car can be recovered.
Is it safe to do myself?
Yes, provided the car is secured first. Set the parking brake or chock the wheels before releasing Park.
