Whether you’re renewing a flat battery or disconnecting for bodywork, the 12 V battery on the Renault Kadjar (XFE, 2015–2022) sits in the engine bay. Do it in the right order and the car relearns its settings cleanly.
Where the Battery Is
Open the bonnet — the 12 V battery is mounted in the engine compartment under a plastic cover. The Kadjar is a conventional petrol/diesel car; there is no high-voltage system to worry about.
Disconnecting
- Switch everything off, remove the key/card and wait a couple of minutes for the systems to power down.
- Lift the cover and slacken the negative (−, black) clamp first; lift it clear.
- Then release the positive (+, red) clamp if you’re removing the battery.
Reconnecting
- Fit positive first, then negative, and tighten both clamps firmly.
- Switch the ignition on, wait, then start.
Afterwards
Expect to re-set a few items: the clock/radio presets, and to store tyre pressures again. Let the car sit a minute before driving so the systems re-initialise.
