These instructions apply to the Mercedes E-Class Mk5 (W213) 2016-2023.

The Mercedes E-Class W213 resets its ASSYST PLUS service reminder from the instrument-cluster engineering menu. You open that menu with the steering-wheel buttons, then confirm a full service.
No diagnostic tool is needed for a standard reset. Note your service details first, because the confirmation cannot be undone.
How to reset the E-Class service light
- Open the cluster engineering menu (ignition to position 1, Trip → Total distance, then hold the back button and press OK) — see opening the W213 service menu for the full walkthrough and build-date variations.
- With VEHICLE DATA / DYNAMOMETER TEST / ASSYST PLUS shown, turn the ignition to position 2, scroll to ASSYST PLUS and confirm with OK.
- Select FULL SERVICE and press OK. The display lists the due work; make a note of it.
- Scroll to CONFIRM and press OK. If an oil-grade menu appears, select the oil specification used and confirm.
- When SERVICE CARRIED OUT? shows, scroll to YES and confirm.
- A “Cannot be undone” warning appears. Scroll to CONFIRMATION and press OK.
- The display shows FULL SERVICE CARRIED OUT. Press the back button repeatedly to leave the menu, then turn the ignition off.
On keyless-start cars, “ignition position 1/2” means pressing the Start button once or twice without your foot on the brake. The 2021 facelift uses touch controls on the wheel, but the back and OK buttons still work the same way.
Why does my E-Class still show a service due?
The ASSYST PLUS counter only recalculates with the battery connected and after a full-service confirmation. A single overdue item, such as brake fluid, can keep a reminder active until that service is logged.
Can I reset the E-Class service light without a scanner?
Yes. The cluster-menu method needs only the steering-wheel buttons and the ignition. A scanner is only needed for the individual counters a workshop logs in the digital service record.
Once the reminder is cleared, note the next due date shown. If a separate warning lamp is on, you can identify the fault code free on autodtcs.com.
