Replace the Cabin (Pollen) Filter

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 6, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Suzuki Alto Mk7 (GF) 2009-2014.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

On air-conditioned Suzuki Alto (2009-2014) models, the cabin (pollen) filter sits behind the glovebox. Replacing it restores airflow and cuts pollen and odors.

Replace the filter

  1. Open the glovebox and empty it.
  2. Release the glovebox from its stops (squeeze the sides or release the damper) so it drops down.
  3. Unclip the filter cover behind it and slide the old filter out.
  4. Note the airflow arrow on the new filter and fit it the same way the old one came out.
  5. Refit the cover and lift the glovebox back onto its stops.

Many base Alto models without air conditioning have no pollen filter – just an empty housing or a blanking panel. If there is nothing behind the cover, your car was not fitted with one.

Frequently asked questions

Does my Alto have a cabin filter? Air-conditioned cars do; basic non-AC models often do not. Replace a fitted filter about once a year or when airflow drops.
