Set and Recall the Memory Seat

If your Charger has the memory package, the buttons on the driver’s door store your seat and mirror positions — plus your radio presets — for two drivers. It’s the quickest way to swap between a tall driver and a shorter one without re-setting the power seat every trip, and on an R/T or SRT8 that gets shared it means the car is ready the instant you drop in. The whole set-up takes under a minute with no tools.

How you know it needs re-setting

You’re usually here because a memory button has stopped bringing the seat to the right place — it either sits still or moves to somebody else’s position. On these cars that most often traces to a battery disconnect or a dead battery, both of which can clear the stored profiles; the fix is just to save them again. A recall that does nothing while you’re driving isn’t broken — the seat is locked out on purpose until you’re in Park.

1. Adjust the seat and the exterior mirrors to your preferred driving position.
2. Press the SET button, then within five seconds press memory 1 (or 2) to store that position.
3. Recall it later by pressing memory 1 or 2 with the transmission in Park.

Pairing a profile to your key fob

To have your remote bring back your profile, press SET, press 1 or 2 within five seconds, then with the key out of the ignition press LOCK on the fob you want to link. From then on that fob’s unlock recalls the profile, as long as “recall memory with RKE unlock” is switched on in Personal Settings. “Easy Exit” is a separate setting — it eases the seat rearward when you remove the key and slides it forward again on restart.

If the seat won’t recall

• No movement almost always means the car isn’t in Park; the seat stays locked out while you’re rolling.
• Lost both profiles after battery work? Just store them again — a disconnect wipes the memory on these cars.
• Press the memory number within five seconds of SET, or nothing is captured.
• If one direction of travel never lands in the same place, suspect a memory-motor or module fault on that axis rather than a saving error.

Set and recall on level ground with the door closed so the mirrors line up, and let the seat finish moving before you override it on the manual switch. Storing the profiles is the first thing to redo whenever you reconnect the battery.
